Why do sellers on US eBay not ship to UK?

Recently, I have found that a number of private individuals (i.e. not businesses) selling on eBay will not use standard US Postal Service international shipping (e.g. $49.00 for a 12" x 12" x 6" box of up to 20lb weight) to the UK, although they use USPS for US deliveries. Any Americans know why this is? I would have thought it makes little difference where you post to - once you're in the post office...Why do sellers on US eBay not ship to UK?
some do, some don't. Some extra shipping costs are involved.

I'm english and i recently bought an i pod from an american seller, fedex couldn't find my address so i wound up telling the guy i didn't want the bloody thing anymore, it was taking too long! he had to have the ipod shipped home and it apparently cost him 100 yankie pounds (dollars) in ship. unlucky mate! lol
Because they seem to think it's too much trouble. That's the answers I have been receiving when I have asked if they'll post to the UK.

Americans are just too lazy. Believe me, I live here, I know.
I think you have to mess about with customs forms and such things - making it too much effort...Why do sellers on US eBay not ship to UK?
They believe its too much trouble to do so. Im not so sure its just the Americans though.
The issue is around fraud. There is far greater fraud internationally than there is domestically. Without any sort of POD (proof of delivery) internationally, it isn't worth shipping there.



Have you considered using a Parcel Forwarding company like Bongo International http://www.BongoUS.com? Bongo will set you up with a US address so that you can make purchases from US based online retailers鈥ven if they don鈥檛 ship internationally. The biggest benefit is that you can make multiple purchases from different vendors and Bongo will consolidate them into one shipment for you. Trust me, it has saved me hundreds of dollars! Good luck!
