Does USPS actually UPDATE tracking information?

I ordered something from the UK on the 24th. It was posted on the 29th through Royal Mail. However, the tracking information provided by USPS seems to be slow, where Royal Mail's info says:

Your item, posted on 29/12/10 with reference (tracking number) has been passed to the overseas postal service for delivery in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

and USPS's tracking info says:

Class: First-Class Mail International

Service(s): International Letter

Status: Origin Post is Preparing Shipment

We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece.

What's up with that...HeadKandy Extensions is the company, they estimate an order to arrive within 3-5 business days and it's already January 7th.

Is USPS slow with tracking info? So could my package arrive without it saying so on the website?Does USPS actually UPDATE tracking information?
First Class Mail International does not offer tracking so, you will not see anything about the status of the package online at usps.com.Does USPS actually UPDATE tracking information?
First Class mail is not trackable. That's why the status hasn't updated.
