Why was Priority Mail International to Japan from the US unavailable today?

I ship the same package regularly. This time when the postal clerk punched into his computer he was surprised and said that the service had been blacked out on his screen. We speculated that it had something to do with all of the airline cancellations. Does anyone know what is going on?Why was Priority Mail International to Japan from the US unavailable today?
Priority mail is usually delivered via the quickest guaranteed medium. Because of the extreme winter conditions on the east coast they cannot guarantee(or know) when the first available flight

would be. Therefore, this priority service was canceled, just as it usually is during busy periods such as the period just before the Christmas holidays. Why was Priority Mail International to Japan from the US unavailable today?
The only sure way to find out is ask the USPS.

Probably had something to do with the airline cancellations, if you are on the east coast, a lot of USPS stuff go out of JFK-NYC.
