USPS "International Letter" to Canada?

I ordered an electronic device from Ebay and I have couple of questions.

1) On tuesday I got an e-mail with the tracking number for my package, when I looked it up I got this:

"Service(s): International Letter

Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on December 28, 2010 to expect your package for mailing."

That was on Tuesday after midnight when I got that message. (The seller claimed that he shipped the item "earlier today", which means on the 27th - Monday)

Is the Status supposed to update once the item is shipped? It's been almost 4 days and the status hasn't changed.

2) How long does it normally take for the "International Letter" to arrive to Canada? I think on the website it says 6-10 days.... but I wonder how accurate this is. Can somebody speak based on experience?

Thanks.USPS "International Letter" to Canada?
We ship first class (International letter) to Canada regularly and typical delivery times are 5-9 business days (one to two weeks total). Depending on where it started and where you are in CA it could be delayed by several additional days due to snow closures and backups at airports.

From the notifications you posted it doesn't look like the shipper purchased step by step tracking but they did include delivery confirmation. With delivery confirmation the only scan/update that is required is when the package is actually been delivered.

It is normal to see only the status

"The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on December 28, 2010 to expect your package for mailing."

which is generated when the shipper purchases postage electronically and no further updates until you receive the package.
